California woman sues Costco after display fell on – Business News

A California woman is suing Costco for more than $14 million after a cupboard allegedly fell on high of her in a store – claiming the incident brought about her a traumatic mind damage. 

Sadie Novotny was strolling down a Costco store aisle on March 22 when a heavy liquor cupboard fell and pinned her to the ground, a criticism filed in April alleged.

The Bay Area woman claimed the massive cupboard had “thin legs” and was balanced precariously on a “worn” and “inadequate” wood pallet in a Costco store in Santa Rosa, in line with the lawsuit.

The incident allegedly left Novotny with a number of everlasting and extreme accidents, together with traumatic mind damage, the swimsuit mentioned.

Novotny is searching for roughly $5 million for ache, struggling and inconvenience; $5 million for emotional misery; $100,000 for medical bills and loss of earnings; and $4 million for future medical bills and loss of earnings.

The plaintiff, 46, works as a non-public observe psychotherapist, specializing in marriage and household counseling, in line with her LinkedIn and several other background test websites. 

The lawsuit alleges Costco is liable for negligence in failing to adequately operate its store and handle merchandise, in addition to failing to coach, handle and supervise workers so the heavy liquor cupboard didn’t fall on the plaintiff. 

Lawyers for Novotny and Costco didn’t instantly reply to The Post’s requests for remark.

While the swimsuit was initially filed in Alameda County Superior Court, it was moved to the Northern District Court at Costco’s request.

Both events are due in court docket in September for a case management assembly.
