Dave Portnoy wasted no time rubbing Michigan’s March Madness triumph into the faces of his Barstool Sports colleagues.

On Monday, Michigan secured its first national title since 1989 with a 69-63 victory over UConn within the championship recreation. Taking to social media, Portnoy — who issued a rallying cry previous to tipoff within the ultimate — shared his fast response after watching the Wolverines emerge victorious in-person at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

“This school, I tried to tell people,” the Barstool Sports founder shouted whereas strolling laps round his box suite. “It doesn’t matter the sport. Basketball, football — next weekend we’re not done, pucks. It’s the best sports program in the country! There’s nobody close. UConn played their hearts out, [they] wouldn’t die. But not against the block M. You can pull that s— against Duke but not against us! It’s Michigan, Michigan, Michigan, Michigan.

“Now get some sleep. We gotta go win the pucks next weekend. It’s 24/7, 365. It never ends when you go to Michigan. Go Blue! Who has it better than us? Nobody.”

In a separate post, Portnoy filmed himself facetiming Will Compton, whose alma mater — Nebraska — fell to Iowa, 77-71, within the Sweet 16. “Did it for you big guy! We did it for you,” Portnoy shouted as Compton grinned on the opposite end. “I told you we’d cut down the net for you.”

The victory lap continued on Tuesday, as Portnoy made a visitor look on Wake Up Barstool. While calling into the show, the 49-year-old make clear the alleged promise he made to Dan Katz — higher referred to as Big Cat — following Wisconsin’s loss to Duke within the 2015 National Championship recreation.

“I vowed revenge for my good friend Danny Boy,” he defined. “This very arena, this very arena in Indianapolis that I sat with Dan and watched him get his guts ripped out by Wisconsin. And we saw the whole thing … and I was there for it. And my heart broke. And I vowed on that day, fellas, I said, ‘I will avenge my friend Danny.’ I said, ‘I will get revenge for Dan in this lifetime and the next.’ At this same arena, a Big Ten school finally closes the deal, gets the national championship.”

Portnoy proceeded to heap reward on Michigan head coach Dusty May for securing a title in simply his second season on the helm earlier than addressing the ripple impact that the Wolverines’ win had on the Big 10. “It’s a great time to be a Michigan Wolverine,” he continued.

“After the football debacle and the butter knife, people are wondering fairly, ‘Is this the end of Michigan sports?’ And then Dusty May comes in and instantly turns the program around. They’re the best program in basketball. I think they’re preseason number one already next year. They could go back to back. You have Michigan State fans infighting with each other online.

“People who promised to delete their accounts still have their accounts. They’re all yelling at each other. Tom Izzo, [it] took him, what, 20-something years to win one? … It took Dusty May 27 minutes to get his first.

“We have a hockey national championship this weekend, Wisconsin’s in it. Water polo Friday night. So it’s an everything school,” Portnoy concluded. “To be able to watch one shining moment from your seat with the confetti still falling down, with your team still on the floor, it just hits so differently.”
