Dems’ National Guard rejection: Letters – Latest News

The Issue: Democrats’ pushback towards potential National Guard deployment in New York, Chicago.

I feel President Trump ought to ship the National Guard to New York, to not help the New York City police however slightly to interchange the state Assembly (“Not guardin’ state: Kathy,” Aug. 26).

Adding more police doesn’t help if the legal guidelines are too lenient, or if the judges and prosecutors merely ignore them.

Better to go after the “root cause” of the issue by eliminating the group of sheltered lowlifes in Albany enacting these horrible legal guidelines.

Richard Rafal

Manhattan

It’s ironic that Chicago and New York City don’t need National Guard troops on the ground in these crime-ridden cities, however they need more federal money to fight crime.

The leaders of these states and cities have proven they’ve no fiscal awareness, because the federal money will get pissed away and crime nonetheless rages on.

Sticking National Guard troops on the ground ensures our taxpayers’ money is put to good use and out of the fingers of these soft-on-crime socialists.

Repeating the identical factor is madness.

Changing the best way crime is attacked is the one method these cities can get higher.

James Schwartz

Summit, NJ

As a true New Yorker, I see too many random acts of violence.

I examine deranged people attacking others and violent criminals capturing or stabbing people within the streets or subways.

Let there be boots on the ground as a result of the police should not allowed to totally carry out their duties with out worry of being penalized.

Time to reverse the trend with affirmative motion, not phrases.

Joseph Comperchio

Brooklyn

You would suppose that Democratic mayors of high-crime cities would understand that it’s the uniform presence that’s deterring crime in DC, not the National Guard.

Why don’t they ask the president for more money to rent hundreds of more avenue cops to interchange the Guard?

Steven Mendelsohn

Whitestone

Someone please put a microphone in Jesse Jackson’s face and ask him: “If you were walking at night in the Southside of Chicago would you cross the street if a National Guard soldier was walking toward you?” I feel not.

The Issue: The FBI probe into ex-National Security Adviser John Bolton and raid on his Maryland home.

Where is the outcry (“Bolton’s not ‘above the law,’ ” Aug. 23)?

When the FBI searched Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Largo for paperwork from the White House, the Republicans went loopy calling it unjust.

Why not apply their logic to John Bolton?

He was by no means president and possibly had much less entry than Trump.

Can’t wait to watch some cable exhibits justifying this FBI search.

Raymond Mangano

Brooklyn

Trump fired John Bolton as a result of he was a warmonger.

His overseas coverage was all the time pro-conflict, like Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and the Biden advisors who ran the nation below the final administration.

Neither he nor his e-book need to be given a lot consideration.

Gracie Crossland

Mount Kisco

Given that the president doesn’t appear to understand any criticism, the raid on John Bolton’s home and workplace by Trump’s Justice Department may very well be seen as an act of retaliation for his e-book, though up to now the state of affairs is unclear.

If you don’t need to be criticized on your work efficiency, then do the job correctly, pretty and with out bias or favor.

Dennis Fitzgerald

Melbourne, Australia
