Driving test booking changes from May 2026

Why the driving test changes are being made

The alterations come in the wake of a consultation on enhancing driving test booking regulations, which took place from May 28 to July 23, 2025, and garnered more than 100,000 responses. The DVSA reported that 70.7 per cent of those who responded to the consultation concurred or strongly concurred with the proposal to restrict bookings to learner drivers only.
