FOX broadcaster slammed over awkward blunder to – Sports News
FOX Sports broadcaster Jamie Little generated a fierce wave of backlash from NASCAR followers after making an awkward on-air blunder.
Since getting into a higher position of play-by-play announcer for the Craftsman Truck Series, Little has made a aware effort to broaden NASCAR’s viewers by explaining the fundamentals of the game whereas overlaying races.
Her methodology has drawn the ire of some viewers, nevertheless, with droves of disgruntled followers notably slamming her call of Tyler Ankrum’s thrilling win within the Black’s Tire 200 at Rockingham Speedway.
Most lately, Little confronted criticism for asking a query during the Ecosave 250 that appeared to have an apparent reply. Last Friday, Will Rodgers was feeling beneath the climate and in peril of needing a alternative.
As reserve driver Parker Kligerman readied himself to pilot the No. 20 Chevrolet if needed, Little questioned why Young’s Motorsports would hassle persevering with to compete within the occasion with out Rodgers.
“So why would you do this? If your driver is not feeling good, he’s going to get out,” she stated to Joey Logano. “Why would you ask another driver to hop into it and finish it?”
Guest analyst Logano appeared confused as to why Little requested such a factor, replying: “Someone’s gotta finish the race, right?”
Taking to social media, droves of viewers blasted Little for the “embarrassing” query. “Wait is this Jamie? She’s been around long enough, she knows the answer. That’s just a terrible setup question to have them talk about it,” one X person wrote.
Another added: “I don’t know if she’s just playing Devil’s advocate, but you can hear the disbelief in Logano’s voice as he answers her embarrassing question. I’m convinced the people running these broadcasts purposely keep her in the booth to spite fans. It really seems like they hate the fans.”
DON’T MISS:
A 3rd chimed in, “My goodness, what was FOX thinking when they made her a play by play announcer? She’s so much better on pit road. Let her stay in what she’s a natural in. Or at least let the guy that does play by play for ARCA do this because he actually has potential.”
Speaking to Sports Illustrated’s Mark Beech back in June, Little make clear the challenges that include transitioning from pit reporting to play-by-play commentary. “Pit reporting and play-by-play are two very different skill sets,” she defined.
“I went into the booth with the Arca Menards series in 2021, and I remember thinking, Well, I’m going to cover it like I do as a pit reporter. But it’s so different. You’re the traffic control cop, you’re talking the whole time. As a pit reporter, you’re doing interviews, but then you’re doing 30-second updates and reports throughout a race. You’re not talking the whole time. Play-by-play is a lot.
“So it’s very different. Pit reporting, that’s always been my jam. I hope that it’s always part of my life. I never want to give up pit reporting on Sundays. It’s interacting with the people. It’s those relationships that you built over all those years. It’s taking that breaking news, and you’re telling the stories. Nobody’s telling me what to say. I love that. But play-by-play is like hanging with your buddies watching a race and you’re having fun doing it — with a lot of technicality mixed in.”
