He went on to become a six-time World Professional Middleweight Karate champion before breaking into Hollywood, earning his first major role opposite Bruce Lee in The Way of the Dragon in 1972.
His television career reached its peak with Walker, Texas Ranger, which ran for eight seasons on CBS from 1993 and made him a household name across multiple generations.
Just 10 days before his death, Norris had posted a birthday video on Instagram showing him sparring with a trainer. “I do not age. I degree up,” he wrote. “I’m 86 right now. I’m grateful for one more yr, good health, and the prospect to keep doing what I really like.”
