Alphabet’s Google stated on Wednesday it has recognized new malware referred to as “LOSTKEYS” tied to the Russian-based hacking group Cold River, which is succesful of stealing information and sending system info to attackers.
The malware “marks a new development in the toolset” of Cold River, Wesley Shields, a researcher with Google Threat Intelligence Group, stated in a weblog.

Cold River, a title used to monitor hacking campaigns beforehand linked to Russia’s Federal Security Service, is primarily identified for stealing login credentials for high-profile targets, together with these within NATO governments, non-governmental organizations and former intelligence and diplomatic officers, Shields stated within the weblog.
