Unlike different components of her State of the State rollout, Gov. Kathy Hochul’s scheme to remedy “inequity” in entry to medical marijuana was not meant as joke — but it absolutely is.

Deep within the coverage e-book launched with the speech is a plan to open a “Center for Excellence for Cannabis Care and Health Equity” to “train clinicians on cannabis pharmacology, evidence-based care, and patient counseling” in minority neighborhoods.

Why? Well: “Black and Brown neighborhoods in New York tend to have more recreational cannabis dispensaries and fewer medical cannabis dispensaries,” and so “are less likely to have access to therapeutic products or even be aware that these medical products exist,” the e-book reads.

Huh?

Medical marijuana might have a tendency to have much less THC and more CBD than the average leisure product, however weed is now a multibillion-dollar industry in New York; with a pot store on each nook, there’s one thing for each style, function and efficiency desire.

We have no “skunk scarcity”: A hashish connoisseur complaining of nausea or ache can get a Willy-Wonka-level selection of choices, from salves to mouth sprays to sodas, in just about any neighborhood in New York.

Lack of entry to weed isn’t a downside anyplace within the Big Apple, and as retailers keep sprouting up statewide, New Yorkers are more possible to be complaining of an excessive amount of toking, not too little.

As for coaching medical doctors on how to inform sufferers on protected, efficient hashish use: The politicians already let that cat out of the bag: When the Legislature and Gov. Andrew Cuomo legalized leisure pot, they principally made medical operators out of date and gave each over-21 grownup the flexibility to self-medicate.

Seems Hochul is placating the medical-MJ operators (who’d need to pay $20 million charge to legally sell non-medicinal pot), although the “equity” noise suggests that is additionally a bone to the group that’s obsessive about making marijuana legalization a race situation.

Hochul’s workplace brags that her middle could be “first in the nation,” in all probability as a result of this lefty lunacy might solely be attainable in New York.

It’s an utter boondoggle — or boondoobie.
