My verdict on the Audi e-Tron GT

I found the Audi e-Tron GT was the best handling electric car I’ve driven when I tried it last year. In fact, it was probably one of the best handling cars I drove in 2024, and that was because of the steering.

The steering in a lot of modern cars lack feel, you don’t have any idea what the front wheels are doing when you turn the big round thing in front of you. I like having that information because it means the car is easier to predict in tricky weather conditions.

The steering in the Audi was terrific, it made even tootling around at 15-20mph fun because of the way car fed in and out of your hands like you were running them through silk. This also made it fun too, it made you look forward to drives whether they were long or short.

At the time I concluded: “Is it without its flaws? Of course not, the range is probably still a bit low, but that’s an easy criticism of any electric car and yes it feels big in the middle of a city meaning many parking spaces are too small.

“However, if you can afford to spend £96,000 on an electric car, there’s a good chance you might be able to afford off-street parking or, in the case of Prince William, inherit an total nation.”
