Jannik Sinner has brazenly criticized the 4 Grand Slam tournaments for his or her refusal to barter gamers’ calls for for elevated prize money and welfare advantages, such as pensions and healthcare. The Italian star was half of a group of top-tier gamers who penned two letters to the organizers of the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and US Open, requesting a bigger slice of the income pie and contributions to benefit schemes.

The four-time Major winner — who has confirmed he is in a relationship with a beautiful model — disclosed that gamers had discussions with the Slams at this 12 months’s French Open and Wimbledon, and subsequently submitted proposals on potential methods ahead. However, the tournaments have acknowledged they won’t “act until other issues are resolved.”

In an interview with The Guardian, Sinner expressed his disappointment: “We had good conversations with the Grand Slams at Roland Garros and Wimbledon, so it was disappointing when they said they cannot act on our proposals until other issues are resolved.”

“Calendar and scheduling are important topics, but there is nothing stopping the slams from addressing player welfare benefits like pensions and healthcare right now.

“The Grand Slams are the largest occasions and generate most of the income in tennis, so we’re asking for a honest contribution to help all gamers, and for prize money that higher displays what these tournaments earn. We need to work along with the Slams to search out options which can be good for everybody in tennis.”

They also voiced their wish for the four Majors to contribute towards pension, health, and maternity benefits, as the two tours already shell out millions into these schemes annually. Players were disgruntled that they weren’t consulted on significant changes at the tournaments, including the decision to kick off the Australian Open and US Open on a Sunday, thereby extending the schedule. They now seek to have a larger voice through a new player council.

According to The Guardian, Sinner was part of discussions between the Grand Slams ahead of the French Open in May. Casper Ruud, Alex de Minaur, Aryna Sabalenka, Coco Gauff, and Madison Keys also stood for the players. Further talks took place at Wimbledon in July, with Alexander Zverev and Belinda Bencic participating.

The players later sent detailed proposals to the four Slams about revised money. When these were not adequately addressed, a second letter was sent to the tournaments in September, reemphasizing the players’ demands.

The Grand Slam tournaments have countered that they cannot properly address the players’ requests until a separate lawsuit, which was filed by the Professional Tennis Players Association, has been settled.

The PTPA, co-founded by Novak Djokovic and Vasel Pospisil in 2020, has taken legal action against the tennis governing bodies in the US, UK, and EU, alleging “systemic abuse and corruption.” Interestingly, Djokovic’s identify was not included within the paperwork.

The 24-time Grand Slam champ additionally put his signature on the initial letter despatched to the 4 Grand Slam tournaments in March. However, his identify was conspicuously absent from the second letter dispatched over the summer time.
