Johnson will race within the O’Reilly Auto Parts and Cup Series races in San Diego. The NASCAR legend was born in El Cajon, not too removed from the race web site, and he’s relishing the chance.
“It means a lot. Knowing that my last cup race is coming up in February, the Daytona 500, I know that kind of some closure and closure that I’m ready for,” he continued.

“So a lot of sentimental vibes taking place, and to come here and race at home and in the cup car. My grandparents are buried over at Fort Rosecrans up on the hill there. My brother came, my dad was going to come, but he ended up staying home. I’ve seen a lot of different friends, so it’s been very, very cool.”
