Kalshi prediction market was sued for a failure to pay out $54 million to people who wager that Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei would depart workplace earlier than March 1, 2026, in accordance with a class motion lawsuit filed on Thursday.

Kalshi did not instantly reply to a request for touch upon the lawsuit, which was filed within the US District Court for the Central District of California.

The company’s CEO, Tarek Mansour, on Saturday defended the company’s death carveout, saying it “keeps the rules simple.” Mansour stated Kalshi would reimburse all charges from the Khamenei market.
