“For what Kyle Larson likes to do, yes that was a lot of fun,” Larson mentioned. “It was a super challenging racetrack kind of all night. I was just waiting for above the cushion in 3 and 4 to get loosened up. It barely did.
“After cautions, I could kind of rip above it in 3 and 4 really well and just wanted to stay committed to it just to try to clean it off up there as much as I could before I caught traffic. I felt like that kind of allowed me to get by lappers a little easier because I could have such a run on the frontstretch. Just a great car, great race, all of that.”
Larson is hoping to affix John Andretti, Robby Gordon, Tony Stewart, and Kurt Busch as the one drivers to have pulled off “The Double.” His final attempt failed; after he accomplished the Indy 500, the Coca-Cola 600 was known as off with solely 249 laps of the 400 whole being accomplished.

“You hate to tear up a really expensive car, but the same point, I’m happy that I got it out of the way and it didn’t feel too, too different than like hitting the wall in a similar fashion in NASCAR,” Larson mentioned after the crash, per Fox Sports’ Bob Pockrass. “I know, obviously there could be much bigger wrecks than that in any Indy, but I’m happy that it didn’t feel way, way bad.”
He added: “You’re just kind of on the brakes and just the whole car’s just riding on the pavement, you’re just along for the ride sliding. So yeah, the second hit, it didn’t like hurt or nothing, but like you can see the wall coming, so you’re kind of like, ‘Oh man, I don’t know what this is going to feel like.’ But yeah, just, unfortunate – I don’t really know how these things work too. We’ll get it repaired and get to make some more runs later today or not.
“But yeah, just kind of is what it is. Hopefully we can all learn from it and tune our balance more.”
