Texas head coach Sean Miller’s wife, Amy, has revealed the humorous origins behind her self-described standing as a “widow” during the depth of school basketball season.

Before his arrival in Austin, Miller labored as an assistant coach at NC State between 1996 and 2001. It was during the second half of that tenure with the Wolfpack that he and Amy introduced two of their kids into the world.

The rigorous calls for inherent to teaching school basketball meant Amy typically discovered herself alone, managing childcare tasks. It follows a March Madness announcer being pulled from broadcast after a main drawback.

“Sean was never home,” she shared with USA Today’s Nicole Auerbach, laughing warmly. “I was like a widow by myself all the time.”
