One of the UK’s main motorways is set to face main disruption this weekend with National Highways confirming bridge closures within simply a matter of hours. Essential upkeep is being carried out on the M3 motorway with work to be held on the Junction 3 Lightwater Interchange.

The route will be shut down to all highway customers from 9pm on Friday to 6am on Monday. The east and west bridges (A322 northbound) have been closed in a single day since 9pm on Friday, February 28.

National Highways has confirmed that diversions will be in place with motorists moved onto different A and B roads across the areas.
However, earlier figures have advised that round 130,000 automobiles per day use the M3 motorway which means the disruption might be important.
National Highways has predicted that the Surrey-based Lightwater Interchange will be accomplished in April 2025.
The project bought underway in January, with officers suggesting the work would increase the bridge’s lifespan.
National Highways added: ”The new joints will considerably improve the longevity of the 2 bridges at this busy interchange.”
In a social media post, National Highways issued a reminder to highway customers of the deliberate closure and urged motorists to take precautions.
They posted on Facebook: “Please allow plenty of extra travel time.
“Also, please remember the closure could be subject to change at short notice due to unforeseen circumstances, such as severe weather.”
