Naomi Osaka has confessed to fearing she may get “kicked off court” for donning a dazzling costume during her opening match on the French Open.

The four-time Grand Slam champion is no stranger to creating daring fashion statements at main tournaments, and Tuesday was no exception. Osaka stepped onto Court Suzanne-Lenglen in a hanging black corset paired with a long maxi-skirt, earlier than dramatically revealing a glittering gold outfit beneath.

Describing how her French Open outfit materialized, the previous world No. 1 defined: “I mean, the kit, like, the outer shell? Well, you know, like the playing kit is Nike, of course. Then the outer pieces are Kevin Germanier.

“I do not know. For me, clearly, like, Australian Open was actually enjoyable. I bought to collaborate with Robert Wun. Then simply to come back right here and be in Paris and collaborate with Kevin.

“Also, it just it’s just fun to watch designers work, especially when there is like an already pre-existing thing that they have to design around, and just to see the ideas. We kind of, like, talked back and forth. For me, that’s the most interesting part.”
