NASCAR star flips bird at rival from window as he – Sports News
There seems to be no love misplaced between Carson Hocevar and Layne Riggs after the pair of drivers battled it out within the closing moments of Saturday’s Craftsman Truck Series race.
Due to his aggressive driving model, Hocevar has drawn the ire of many drivers within the NASCAR Cup Series and Truck Series. Ryan Blaney referred to as him a “moron” following the Ambetter Health 400, AJ Allmendinger issued him a stern warning at the EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix and Ryan Preece advised him “he’ll have his day” after crashing out of the Wurth 400.
Coming to the white flag at Kansas Speedway, Riggs managed to run down Hocevar and get alongside him in Turn 1. While battling for the lead, the duo made contact and went spinning into the skin wall.
Fortunately for Hocevar, he managed to straighten out his No. 7 Chevrolet earlier than shedding an excessive amount of momentum. Upon efficiently warding off Riggs down the ultimate set of corners, the Spire Motorsports driver secured the fifth Truck Series victory of his profession and first since 2023.
As the 2 sped down the frontstretch during the thrilling end, eagle-eyed viewers seen that Hocevar was flipping the bird at Riggs out of his driver-side window. “Middle finger out the window going over the finish line rocks. Carson Hocevar is the man,” one X person wrote, with one other including: “Hocevar middle finger out the window coming to the line is hilarious.”
A 3rd exclaimed, “NAH CARSON HOCEVAR DID NOT JUST WIN THE RACE WHILE FLIPPING OFF RIGGS AS HE CROSS THE FINISH LINE???!”
The brash gesture didn’t go unnoticed by Riggs, who questioned why Hocevar was so upset contemplating he crossed the checkered flag first. “Man, I gave it my all,” he stated following his second-place end.
“We were really down bad with the track position there. About midway through the third stage, we were about to take the lead and we did a green-flag pit stop. That really hurt us. Had to come from 16th all the way on that green flag run to get all the way back to him. Last lap, I got to him, got into him a little bit and we both hit the wall.
DON’T MISS:
”He won the race and I think he was mad at me. I think he flipped me off all the way down the frontstretch coming to the checkered. But how can you be mad when you win the race, right? But it’s all good. It’s great racing with Cup cars and I think that just proves that I’m going to be there one day.”
Speaking to reporters at a post-race press convention, Hocevar insisted that the center finger salute was all in good enjoyable. “It was somewhat friendly,” he stated with a huge grin. “Yeah, I don’t remember what I really did to be honest. If anything, I just wanted to remind him, ‘Hey, I still won.’
“At the end of the day, he did a really good job. He’s super, super talented. That group built a really, really fast truck. I remember watching Zane go on to win against us in that truck.
“It’s all harm, no foul. I’m sure my bird is really small compared to just hitting contact. So it’s all friendly and when I see him, I’m sure we’ll laugh about it.”
