New Jersey’s noncitizen-voter scandal is proving a lot much less easy that Gov. Mikie Sherrill claimed.

She fingered an outdoors vendor for a software program “glitch” that led to the state registering 6,600 noncitizens as voters, with some 400 really casting ballots.

But her scapegoat, French tech firm IDEMIA, says it did nothing incorrect —- giving Jersey the information it requested and even warning in regards to the potential “error.”

This is no fly-by-night company: IDEMIA offers TSA PreCheck providers and Motor Voter technology in dozens of states.

And it was contracted to easily accumulate self-reported citizenship information and voter-registration curiosity, then ship it alongside to the state Division of Elections, which manages voter enrollment.

In different phrases, it was Jersey’s Democrat-run company that screwed up, albeit below then-Gov. Phil Murphy . . .  who championed Sherrill as his successor.

Note, too, that Sherrill’s staff realized of the mess a week earlier than she got here clean, because the feds have been thundering about practically 270,000 noncitizens they’d ID’d on voter rolls throughout Jersey and three different states — more than 35,000 of them within the Garden State.

The Justice Department gave Sherrill 5 days at hand over the names, addresses and voting information of the hundreds of noncitizens her DOE wrongly put on the rolls.

And Homeland Security chief Markwayne Mullin is demanding information of each illegally registered individual in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, California and Nevada.

All this comes as these and different blue states refuse to share their full voter-roll information with the feds.

Sherrill is persevering with Murphy’s stonewall, insisting she desires to guard New Jerseyans’ personal information — and blaming President Donald Trump for casting doubt on election security.

Naturally, she doesn’t word that his gripe is largely with how Democrats have undermined confidence with a long listing of fraud-friendly “reforms” from mass mail-in voting to legalized third-party “ballot harvesting” to automated voter registration — and, of course, an adamant refusal to require voter-ID, because the overwhelming majority of Americans help.

All of which makes it appear to be Mikie’s scapegoating, stonewalling and sidestepping is about attempting to guard her occasion, not her constituents.
