The Issue: A mass shooter at 345 Park Avenue who killed 4 people, together with an NYPD officer and exec.

Those shot lifeless in New York City had been simply 5 of the more than 200 Americans who take a bullet daily, 100 fatally (“Terror on Park Ave.,” July 30).

Is there any state or federal legislative physique with a GOP majority keen to cross secure gun laws?

The proper to bear arms? How about proper to keep your arms and all different physique elements connected?

The ways utilized by the deranged particular person at 345 Park Ave. made it very tough for anybody to forestall him from wreaking havoc and killing 4 people earlier than turning the gun on himself.

Officer Didarul Islam stood no likelihood towards this lunatic, who launched his assault armed with a very lethal assault rifle.

Scenes from this tragedy show officers placing their lives on the road and speeding into the building to mitigate the state of affairs. The speedy and heroic response by the NYPD definitely factored into the shooter’s resolution to take his own life earlier than he might kill more innocents.

God bless Officer Islam and the three civilians who misplaced their lives to this maniac, and God bless the NYPD.

I’m drained of seeing the photograph of the shooter within the media. This man confirmed up and took the lives of 4 harmless people, together with a hero police officer who was working one other job to assist his household.

Every day, I flip open the paper and again see the story of this evil particular person. Stop making these people appear like heroes and highlighting them within the media. I do know it sells, however take into consideration the household and buddies of the victims seeing this man’s face in each newspaper.

These households need to be highlighted more than the one that triggered this tragedy.

Realize that different deranged people might see this as a option to get consideration for themselves.

I’m so disenchanted in my congressional consultant, Dan Goldman.

In the wake of this horrible shooting, he’s blaming the Republicans.

All this man does is blame the opposite celebration for all the issues of the world and hasn’t achieved one constructive factor for New York City. Grow up, Rep. Goldman, and be a one who helps, not hurts, this metropolis.

Daniel Ricciardi

Brooklyn Heights

We are again confronted with three horrific mass casualty incidents.

The first noticed 11 harmless buyers stabbed at a Walmart in Traverse City, Michigan.

In the second, in Reno, Nevada, three victims had been killed at a on line casino. And within the third and most dangerous, 4 had been killed in Manhattan, together with an NYPD officer.

This brings us to the query: Are we correctly knowledgeable and guarded inside any public building the place employees members are educated to answer excessive emergencies?

OSHA requires an Emergency Action Plan for all public-occupied companies, together with retail shops, medical workplaces and fast-food eating places. They are required to have educated employees members help guests safely exit their premises or help of their medical wants.

My suggestion is to have all companies inform their visitors of all of the public security measures that they supply.

Prioritize security now, for the benefit of all.

This newest mass shooting focusing on the NFL headquarters was merely tragic. My ideas and prayers are with all of the victims and their grieving family members.

Too many harmless lives had been cut short and destroyed from one mindless shooting.

To see the rippling results of such a tragedy, we need look no farther than the daddy of NYPD officer and security guard, Didarul Islam, who suffered a stroke after studying that his son had perished.

My concern is that it’s inconceivable to stop these mass shootings, which might occur wherever. And all of the media consideration will most likely help to encourage others.
