RAC issues petrol and diesel fuel warning to all | Tech News
The RAC has issued a warning to sure petrol and diesel house owners, with “rural” motorists amongst these set to pay more. The motoring specialists defined that rural costs are “often higher” than in city areas, that means these within the countryside could have to splash out more to keep behind the wheel.
The RAC burdened that rural petrol pumps usually situated “extreme distances” from fuel terminals were behind higher rates. This was likely to have a “significant effect on prices” in a blow to the wallets of UK drivers.
The RAC explained: “While delivery costs tend not to play too large a part in the overall pump price, excessive distances from fuel terminals can have a significant effect on prices in rural locations. It is for this reason the Government has previously taken action to help some of the country’s most rural communities where the price of fuel is deemed to be negatively affecting residents.
“In 2012, it introduced a 5p rural fuel duty discount in the Inner and Outer Hebrides, the Northern Isles, and the Isles of Scilly. In March 2015, this was extended to 10 rural mainland communities.”
On average, fuel in rural UK areas costs around 1p–2p per litre more than in urban areas. However, this difference can dramatically vary and it’s not uncommon to see rural prices as much as 5p per litre more expensive.
A previous study from The Countryside Alliance has discovered that highway customers dwelling in rural communities are paying up to 47% more in fuel prices. They have predicted these dwelling in rural households might need to spend practically £800 per 12 months more in fuel than these dwelling in more built-up areas.
They beforehand defined: “Lower fuel prices usually appear in cities with a higher number of petrol stations as the competition between retailers is higher. The opposite is for petrol stations in UK rural areas where motorists have no other alternative choice for filling up their cars and thus the prices are much higher.
“There are fewer people in rural areas which mean there are fewer sales, whereas in urban areas there are more people meaning more sales. It is simply, supply and demand.”
