Motoring specialists on the RAC have revealed how drivers might be saving money by filling up at prime grocery store manufacturers akin to Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Asda. Speaking solely to Express.co.uk, RAC head of roads coverage Simon Williams beforehand defined that grocery store fuel pumps have been the best locations to prime up their tanks.

The RAC has beforehand recommended that petrol and diesel might be as a lot as 4p per litre cheaper at grocery store pumps than at specialist fuel chains. Although supermarkets have been cheaper, the RAC admitted that there was little distinction between the key shops on the street.

Simon mentioned: “Fuel is generally 3-4p cheaper at supermarkets compared to the UK average. Over the years, the supermarkets have built a reputation for selling good-value fuel, and as a result, they dominate the market. As they sell so much fuel, they are also better placed to take advantage of wholesale price dips than other retailers who don’t buy new supplies as often.

“There is very little difference between the supermarkets on average, although drivers can find significant differences from area to area, particularly if there’s strong competition from independent retailers.”

According to information from RAC Fuel Watch, Asda has the least expensive grocery store fuel within the UK, with costs at simply 131.7p per litre on average. Morrisons was subsequent with average petrol prices at 131.9p per litre, adopted by Sainsbury;s (132.1p) and Tesco (132.2p),

Across all manufacturers, the average spend was 132.0p, a lot decrease than fuel manufacturers akin to Esso, BP, Jet and Shell which got here in at an average of 136.3p per litre.

It’s good to see costs on the pumps have fallen barely in October, reversing the increase drivers skilled in September. It comes after a good month for combustion house owners in October, with petrol and diesel prices on the decline.

The value of petrol has dropped to 134.97p per litre by the beginning of November, down by 0.58p from the 135.55p recorded initially of October.

Mr Williams added: “Our analysis shows that while it’s cheaper on average to fill up at supermarkets, it’s also worth seeking out low-priced independent forecourts that can offer great value petrol and diesel.

“The best advice is to keep a close eye out for low prices on your normal routes or, better still, use the myRAC app to search for the best prices in your area.”
