Cameron Young has made his pitch to captain Keegan Bradley because the American golfer fights for a spot within the upcoming Ryder Cup crew.

The rising star finds himself amongst a number of gamers vying for choice after lacking out on one of the six computerized qualifying positions for the home crew at Bethpage.

Scottie Scheffler, JJ Spaun, Russell Henley, Xander Schauffele, Harris English and Bryson DeChambeau all locked up their spots via the factors standings, with Bradley set to reveal his remaining six picks this Wednesday.

Young’s timing could not be higher, using high on sturdy playoff performances that adopted his breakthrough PGA Tour victory on the Wyndham Championship.

The 28-year-old is raring to compete towards Europe on his home turf and has offered compelling arguments for why Bradley ought to give him his maiden Ryder Cup alternative.

“It’s a simple, big-boy golf course. There’s simply not a lot funky about it. The greens will not be loopy. The fairways aren’t actually, actually slim. It’s long, but it surely’s not the longest place on this planet. But it is simply simple. It’s troublesome. That’s the type of golf that I like.

“I think there’s a few points that if I had to make my case to him, those are things I’d like him to know. He’s been incredibly encouraging to me. He’s obviously watching everybody very closely and he’s been very kind to reach out and show some enthusiasm and some support when I’ve played well.

“I do know he is received a lot on his plate, so I do not count on a ton from him. But he is been very good to me and I respect any consideration he is given me to placing me on that crew.

“I think it’s just a function of a more stable, solid golf that I’ve played recently. Even before that I missed the cut at the British Open, but I think that was just a bit of a strange one. Just one of those weeks where all your bad shots cost you more than they can.

“I performed some good golf, Canadian Open, US Open, after which received to week 4 or 5 of that stretch and sort of struggled with fatigue. But I feel I’ve continued to push via and play higher and higher during the last bunch of weeks.

“I mean, I think it’s nice to check the box [winning the Wyndham], but I’m three weeks removed from it now. “I’ve received one other process in entrance of me. That’s actually what I’m involved about.

It’s good to have performed it and have it in your resume and assume back to some of the nice golf that I performed there, however I performed loads of good golf the following week that I look back on.

“I definitely am happy that my job is a bit more stable. I’m just confident in what I’m doing and I’ve built a lot of that over the course of the last few months.”
