“Grateful to all of the New Yorkers who quickly mobilized, put their safety on the line, and protected their immigrant neighbors against ICE’s expected raids,” she wrote on X.
No accountable chief must be calling for normal residents to “put their safety on the line” for his or her chosen trigger. People like Salazar are solely feeding delusion.
But their constituents, satisfied that fascism has descended, are heeding the call.
Or perhaps ones who could make a fast buck.
Angie Vargas, the self-professed “soccer mom” in California who makes videos of her trailing ICE autos in her car has more than 226,000 TikTok followers and a fawning profile in The Nation. She set up a GoFundMe that’s raised over $123K.

“All donations will be used by me personally and responsibly to sustain this ongoing advocacy,” she wrote.
In one other video making the rounds, a girl argues with law enforcement on an lively police scene as they inform her to go away for her security. She insists on videoing the interplay. The kicker? She had her 6-year-old son within the car.
There is a silly sense that being a girl, or particularly a white girl, will protect them from penalties. In November, a group of 14 suburban moms had been arrested after sitting within the street exterior an ICE facility in Broadview, Illinois, reportedly telling a native outlet, they had been utilizing their “privilege as white women.”
