Respect the USA

Kudos to Bob Chavez, a Vietnam veteran who slapped a younger man at a Chicago Cubs recreation for not standing for the national anthem (“Say can you stand,” July 22).

The slap ought to have come from this younger man’s mother and father. Our national anthem is a signal of respect, which must be taught at home. Thankfully this dispute was settled amicably, with out knives or weapons, and this younger man realized one thing.

Lefty propaganda

I used to be shocked to learn the apparent MAGA hit-job article by Niall Ferguson and John-Clark Levin (“The algorithms of antisemitism,” July 23).

They blamed solely conservatives and far-right extremists for the present trend of rising antisemitism on this nation. There was not a single point out of the prices of Palestinian genocide and struggle crimes in opposition to Israel by progressives and socialists or the basic abandonment of help for Jews by mainstream Democratic leaders. What a one-sided piece of lefty propaganda.

Why cut up faculties?

Part of the downside of New York City’s public-school spending lies with the Bloomberg administration’s “co-location” insurance policies (“Addition & subtraction,” July 20).

Mayor Bloomberg thought it might be useful to interrupt up giant faculties, believing that college students would get more particular person consideration and tutorial achievement would increase.

As a faculty nurse, I labored at two co-location websites. Classrooms needed to be transformed to workplaces and there was a web loss of beneficial extracurriculars since no one small faculty might offer what the bigger faculties did. And tutorial achievement didn’t improve.

It’s time to reconsolidate: one faculty in a single building. The financial savings and advantages to college students can be huge.

Lock perps down

New York’s parole system is a sick joke and repeat-offender Zaki Smith is evident proof (“Fiendish Subway ‘pusher’ on parole,” July 22).

This punk, who has 14 prior arrests, pushed a 70-year-old girl onto the subway tracks. The idiots in Albany who handed the no-bail legal guidelines must be fired for incompetence.

End the outbreak

City Council Speaker Julie Menin’s piece about the Legionnaire’s outbreak on the Upper East Side is reassuring however alarming (“Zo’s Outbreak Bungle,” PostOpinion, July 22).

History reveals us that public trust in politicians is an important weapon in opposition to epidemic illnesses. The appalling information about inadequate skilled staffing and the administration’s seeming indifference is worrisome.

Mayor Mamdani, our once-vigilant public-health system should not be allowed to sleep in the face of ongoing challenges by dangerous, infectious organisms in our each day world.

Fetterman is true

Although I’ve main points with Sen. John Fetterman voting with Republicans during the authorities shutdown, I’ve to agree with him on Mayor Mamdani (“Zo gets slammed for Bibi bust bid,” July 20).

If Mamdani desires to set Middle Eastern coverage, he ought to transfer to 1 of these nations that execute critics of the authorities, whip ladies who don’t costume modestly or enable males to control their wives.
