Former Kaulig Racing driver Daniel Dye, who was suspended by NASCAR earlier this yr after making homophobic feedback on a livestream, has discovered a new staff.
Last month, the 22-year-old was suspended from the Craftsman Truck Series after footage emerged of him on a livestream mocking IndyCar driver David Malukas. The former Kaulig Racing driver is set to pilot the No. 24 Sigma Performance Services Chevrolet this weekend within the ARCA Menards Series Tide 150 at Kansas Speedway.
ARCA revealed Dye’s new staff on Tuesday through an entry record. Before being suspended by Kaulig, he had been set to race full-time within the Craftsman Truck Series this season.
However, he has since been changed by Corey LaJoie, who has taken over as the driving force of Kaulig’s No. 10 Ram 1500.
Following the feedback he made on the livestream, Dye supplied an apology, admitting he had chosen his phrases poorly and including that he needed to carry himself to a greater commonplace shifting ahead.
“I chose my words poorly and I understand why it upset people,” wrote Dye in his apology post. “I’m sorry to anyone who was offended. That’s not how I want to represent myself.”
He continued: “I have some close friends in the LGBTQ+ community who would never want to feel less of themselves because of what I said, and that’s exactly why I should hold myself to a higher standard.
“A real buddy would know higher than to behave the way in which I did. I didn’t suppose enough earlier than I spoke, and I in no manner meant any hurt.
“I know that intention does not erase impact and I need to do better.”
