Tony Stewart couldn’t have been firmer in his declaration that he will by no means race within the Daytona 500 again.

But the three-time Cup Series champion is adamant he will not ever return to compete in ‘The Great American Race’ within the Cup Series, a race he has by no means managed to win as a driver.

“We can lead every lap tomorrow night and I will not be back here for the Daytona 500,” Stewart declared. 

“I’m pretty good after all these years of saying never. You will not see me here for the Daytona 500.” 

Explaining how it has felt being back within the storage and outlining why he opted to return at a observe the place he has by no means competed in a Truck Series race. 

Stewart stated: “Just seeing a lot of familiar faces I haven’t seen for a long time, but in a capacity I’m a lot more familiar with than just walking around here as an owner, but getting ready to get in a Truck again.

“Obviously never done it at a restrictor plate track, so being here at Daytona I’ve got a lot to learn in a short amount of time. But it’s been odd.

“We thought you would never see this moment and trust me, I’m as surprised as all of you are, but it is a unique opportunity.

“The next question everybody asked was why did we pick here and, literally, this is Ram’s coming out party so what better way to support Ram and Dodge and Stellantis than to do it at the biggest showcase of the year at the first race at Daytona.”
