Trump’s Iran war strategy: Letters – Latest News

The Issue: President Trump’s ongoing cease-fire with Iran regardless of its reluctance to barter a peace deal.

The failure to reply successfully to current Iranian missile assaults on Israel is merely encouraging the terrorist tyrants of Tehran to widen their scope (“ ‘Cease’ is under fire,” June 8).

Meanwhile, President Trump bafflingly goes on touting a nonexistent deal amidst a nonexistent cease-fire. Only he is aware of whether or not he’s getting dangerous advice on what to do about Iranian aggression, or whether or not he’s personally obsessive about getting a deal that’s by no means going to occur.

The theocratic fascists working Iran are usually not fascinated with peace. They’re fascinated with destroying Israel, the West and America. It’s time for Trump to, along with Israel, end off the regime as soon as and for all.

If we utterly defeated Iran militarily, as Trump retains saying, then why are we nonetheless “negotiating?” When a nation is defeated, the victor doesn’t negotiate phrases — it dictates them.

Steven Mendelsohn

Whitestone

I’m as conservative as they arrive and voted for Trump 3 times. However, I’m not sure he is ready to discern needs from expectations. We have been “on the verge of a peace accord” for 2 months.

I feel it’s time for Vice President JD Vance to take over, with Marco Rubio as his proper hand.

I’m starting to grasp why Democrats choose Graham Platner to Trump.

Bruce David Wilner

The revolving door of rationales proffered for the dire necessity of Operation Epic Fury have confirmed to be as fictional as Trump’s tactical victories.

While Trump seems to be growing bored along with his stalled Iranian project, the holy wars infected by this operation will likely be fought long after his political lifespan.

Trump went into this war on a hunch that it will work out to his benefit. It was at all times about projecting army energy on the worldwide stage, however he has failed epically.

Iran has decided time is on its facet. Trump has to change his strategy or risk going through a extended battle much like the one which pressured the United States to retreat from Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan.

Ed Houlihan

This war might’ve been over months in the past. You can’t negotiate with a nation that has no morality. If the tables have been turned, would Iran negotiate with the United States? Have we realized nothing from the previous?

The Issue: President Trump strolling out of an NBC News interview claiming it was “dishonest press.”

Anyone who watches the interview can see how nasty Kristen Welker was when interviewing President Trump (“ ‘Press’ all his buttons,” June 8).

So why does your reporter put Trump at fault for demanding honesty from the press? Ryan King studies Trump “lashed out,” and portrays Welker as a sufferer, saying she “pleaded with Trump.”

Get actual, King: Your destructive and slanted reporting is as dangerous as Welker’s disgusting interview.

Sara Gershon

Syosset

I’m satisfied that even Trump’s most ardent followers will conclude that his conduct within the interview reveals him to be no more than a punk.

Every time Trump was confronted by Welker with the best questions on proof of the “rigged” elections, he reverted to calling her “corrupt,” “crooked” or “stupid.” He stormed off like a child within the schoolyard.

By the best way, if all our elections are rigged, as Trump suggests, how does he account for profitable two of three?

Lou Maione
