However, the new Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) will still need to undergo a public consultation to gather residents’ views before any updates can come into effect.
North East Lincolnshire Council has previously explained that it has been granted £1.2 million to help with the costs of implementing new food waste collection schemes. As part of the changes, residents will be provided with caddies to collect food waste in an additional container.
The Council has previously carried out a pilot scheme in which 4,500 households took part in food waste collections back in April 2021. Officials claim that the new system will improve recycling rates and environmental sustainability.
