The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has launched a probe into nearly 1.3 million Ford pickup vans over a defective gear change that may result in a potential wheel lock-up.
On Friday, the security company opened an investigation into 2015-2017 Ford F-150 vans after receiving more than 130 shopper complaints.

Drivers complained of an unrequested gear downshift with none warnings whereas driving at freeway speeds. The autos would then quickly decelerate, in line with the NHTSA.
According to some of the complaints, the vans’ rear wheels would then quickly lock, seize or skid after the surprising gear change.

The wheel lock-ups may cause drivers to lose control of the vehicle, rising the risk of crash or damage.
“We are working with NHTSA to support its investigation,” a Ford spokesperson instructed The Post in a assertion.
No crashes or fires linked to the defective gear change have been reported, in line with the NHTSA.
