1. “Make Peace with the Communist Lunatics” – NYT
by Evan Milenko, author
Last week, the Democratic Socialists of America launched their new platform beneath the slogan “Workers Deserve More!” So, expensive downtrodden employee, let me introduce you to a few of their humble coverage proposals: abolishing ICE and the Senate, defunding the police and the Department of War, and permitting prisoners and noncitizens to vote.
Thirty-five(!!!) DSA-endorsed candidates gained their primaries this cycle, all whereas the group gloats about “transforming society” and “drafting a new constitution.” OK. I’m no knowledgeable, however defunding the Department of War whereas rewriting America’s founding ideas seems like a blatant coup.
Unsurprisingly, on Sunday, the New York Times printed an op-ed arguing that Democrats shouldn’t cull the DSA from their ranks, as doing so can be to have interaction in foolish “feuds over abstractions” like the “merits of capitalism and socialism.” In that case, DSA members, might I introduce you to the “abstraction” of a catapult flinging you throughout the border?

The AI investor Sarah Guo is… bearish on AI. The approach Guo — who predicted the AI growth and made a killing — sees it, the huge AI labs was happy with leasing out their fashions to different firms, in order that these different firms might use the fashions to construct cool stuff (apps, companies, and so on). But now they’re making an attempt to do all of it. They wish to construct all the things, even healthcare and legal companies.
Guo is betting they will’t, favoring as an alternative the area of interest startups in the trenches (healthcare AI firms, lawyer AI firms), the ones successful the trust (and income) of the precise industries in query. And I imply… healthcare is difficult! Regulations are laborious! Unions are laborious! People are laborious! Very little of actually all the things you do, at the finish of the day, reduces down to the best technology, or the prediction of phrases on a web page. Unless you code. Lol.

Republicans proceed to freak out as a result of one little canine voted in California, and actually, they need to simply stop barking about it. That’s based on the SF Chronicle, which simply printed a useful fact-check about the canine voting scandal, a in style speaking level for Republicans like Steve Hilton. These Republicans level to the incident, wherein an Orange County girl efficiently registered her furry buddy as a voter in the state, as proof for why California wants stricter voting legal guidelines (loopy, I do know).
But per The Chronicle, since the girl was in the end caught and prosecuted, “the system worked as intended” and additional fraud precautions like Voter ID are pointless. Phew! Except this girl was solely caught… AFTER HER DOG’S VOTE WAS LITERALLY COUNTED IN AN ELECTION. Don’t fear, Californians — 50 Nithya Raman votes might mysteriously emerge from the native Humane Society, however relaxation assured the perpetrators will likely be caught finally (after electing your subsequent mayor).
