Walmart vows to keep prices low amid Trump – Business News

Discount giant Walmart on Wednesday vowed to keep prices low so as to increase market share regardless of President Trump’s tariffs on world trading companions – particularly China.

The retailer argued that it’s notably well-equipped for the problem within the face of a 125% tariff on China – regardless that Walmart imports 60% of its items from the Mainland.

“History tells us that when we lean into these periods of uncertainty, Walmart emerges on the other side with greater share and a stronger business,” Walmart CFO John David Rainey stated in a press release after the company introduced it can stick to its full-year gross sales and income growth forecasts.

China was dealing with a 104% tariff when McMillon made his feedback – however Trump upped the levy to 125% as a result of of an 84% retaliatory tax imposed on US items by Beijing that begins Thursday.
