Both share the identical radical insurance policies and have the identical core constituency of disaffected elites. Both went to high faculties; each are immigrants of Indian origin; each selected a far-left path.
But whereas Mamdani has management qualities that enable him to drive his agenda ahead, Raman is a weak chief who lacks charisma and imaginative and prescient.
Mamdani has the persuasive expertise to create an phantasm of success; Raman is singularly uninspiring, each on social media and on the stump.

It is simply too early to say whether or not Mamdani has governing ability to match his different political expertise. But he’s already the chief of a motion. He endorsed a number of anti-Israel radicals in Democratic primaries in New York City, and ousted a number of incumbents. Candidates throughout the nation are copying his fashion. They barely flinch when he targets wealthy traders, or frightens 1000’s of householders by publishing their addresses. In reality, Democrats appear to be having fun with the show.
Raman, against this, barely received the endorsement of her own socialist group. The native Democratic Socialists of America (DSA-LA) threw a tantrum when she identified that Measure ULA — the so-called “mansion tax” — was discouraging builders from building new residences. (It seems that taxing the wealthy doesn’t create housing for the poor; it simply means much less housing for everyone.)
Those ties had been mended. But she’s their follower, not their chief. And she refuses to state whether or not she agrees with the DSA’s radical insurance policies. Like gubernatorial candidate Xavier Becerra, she avoids substantive debates.

When The California Post requested her particular yes-or-no questions, primarily based on the DSA’s own manifesto, she refused to reply.
