I think it’s something you keep trying to strive for, but yeah…” she responded, her voice fading as tears started streaming down her face. “Yeah, it’s tough. It’s tough. The world No. 60 remained unsure about doubtlessly partnering with De Minaur in combined doubles earlier than their marriage ceremony, although she doubted it could happen.

“I don’t think I’m playing mixed, that I know of. I haven’t had that conversation. He’s on court. Not that I know of that I’m playing mixed doubles. I’m playing women’s doubles with Heather Watson,” she defined. Boulter acknowledged the loss stung more than normal, significantly because it occurred at her home match.

“I think this year I have been building extremely well. I think it’s one of the only weeks in my whole calendar so far, I have had a really tough week,” she stated.

“Of course it hurts because it’s Wimbledon. It just hurts more and it makes it harder for me to deal with and to accept the fact that I didn’t bring my best game out there.”

Despite the painful setback for the 29-year-old, she acknowledges the significance of transferring ahead. She continued: “That is for me to go back and keep building and keep working. It’s tough, because you can sometimes sound like a robot, but it’s the only thing we know what to do.

“I believe if I get wrapped up in this loss, it’ll be powerful. It’s not going to be straightforward for me. I’ll permit myself to take a couple of days and look after my head and possibly go back over the match and see what I may have accomplished higher.”

Boulter also offered generous praise for 18 year old Grant, who was competing in her first Grand Slam main draw. “I’ve to present credit to her, as nicely. She’s a younger woman who’s swinging, enjoying some fearless tennis,” Boulter noted.

“I believe she did not actually give me a look-in. I believe possibly a few different gamers I might have had a few more alternatives on return of serves. I believe she served extraordinarily nicely. I did not match that. Yeah, I believe it is a powerful day immediately.”
