Mamdani and Trump’s sanctuary city conflict: Letters – Latest News
The Issue: President Trump’s threats to cut federal funds if New York City stays a sanctuary city.
Like him or not, President Trump holds huge energy to help or hinder New York City, which closely depends on federal help to fund main infrastructure tasks (“Zo-ver and Don with,” Jan. 15).
Yet that help is jeopardized when elected officers like Mayor Mamdani select hostility over pragmatic engagement.
Political grandstanding might rating partisan factors, however it does nothing to improve roads, bridges and public companies. Respecting the president and partaking with the administration shouldn’t be capitulation — it’s accountable governance.

Mamdani and Gov. Hochul need to have their cake and eat it too. They need to keep New York City a sanctuary state whereas contradicting immigration law and nonetheless get federal funding.
So long as they proceed to spend money on illegals’ food, clothes and shelter, President Trump is correct in denying them any federal funding.

Anyone who voted for Mamdani might be completely happy he takes a stand towards Trump on New York being a sanctuary city. Have they forgotten how a lot Mayor Eric Adams’ method to sanctuary insurance policies price the city? And what in regards to the elevated crime price? These people simply don’t care.

Mamdani claims “our values in our laws are not bargaining chips.” Our legal guidelines? Sanctuary insurance policies have been put into place by mayors and the City Council and by no means voted on by residents. How does that make it “our laws?”
We’ve already seen how not following federal immigration legal guidelines locations excessive stress on residents, financially and bodily. It’s ridiculous to inform residents they need to obey legal guidelines, and then give illegals a go. Where is the worth in that?

It is sensible that Trump would need to attempt and get together with Mayor Mamdani. But behind that grin is identical man we sadly elected.
He won’t ever change his thoughts about New York being a sanctuary city. Thus, we need the president to keep combating for us, even when which means reducing federal funds.

Mamdani’s agenda will make New York City the best city at no cost stuff and fraud, waste and abuse. “Come One, Come All” is New York’s new motto.

The Issue: Dr. Nisha Verma’s refusal to reply Sen. Josh Hawley’s query, “Can men get pregnant?”
It’s 2026, and we nonetheless have people, docs no much less, who can’t acknowledge that males can’t get pregnant (“Answering to ideology,” Kirsten Fleming, Jan. 16).
When a baby is born, it’s both male or feminine. To fake the rest is merely indulging the whims of woke ideology.
The incontrovertible fact that Dr. Nisha Verma couldn’t reply Sen. Josh Hawley is a prime instance of delusional thought processes.
God enabled ladies to offer start as a result of males couldn’t deal with childbirth.

It doesn’t make a distinction to me as to what gender id people relate themselves to lately.
The one factor that did trigger a skip in my step was when a board-certified OB/GYN was hard-pressed to reply the easy query, “Can men get pregnant?” This political rhetoric is past the bulk’s comprehension of normalcy in as we speak’s society.
How can these so-called professionals go to such absurd lengths to placate such excessive and unrealistic ideologies?
