The Issue: Bill Gates’ revision of his former stance on the urgency of preventing climate change.

Well, nicely, nicely — Microsoft founder and climate-change zealot Bill Gates has had a change of coronary heart (“Gates: OK, sky not falling,” Oct. 29).

He is aware of he’s milked the climate-change cow for all its price, and now he’s on to the following massive money-maker: artificial intelligence.

He’s acutely conscious of the super need for electrical energy to energy Microsoft’s development and deployment of AI.

He’s additionally conscious that this power received’t come from windmills and photo voltaic panels, however from gasoline, coal and nuclear energy plants.

If necessity is the mom of invention, then greed is the daddy.

Jack Kaufman

Naples, Fla.

Bill Gates’ company TerraPower is developing a “Natrium” reactor, which is one of essentially the most intently watched and superior reactors.

Gates in all probability needs a complete lot of credibility when he promotes his “hot” nuclear company, so he’s now telling us he has come to his senses about “climate change.”

All these new AI knowledge facilities need unimaginable quantities of energy to open, and now President Trump is simplifying the regs, so I’m glad Gates had the foresight to invest on this new technology.

David F. Lipton

Toms River, NJ

Bill Gates, and his climate Nazis have value the American taxpayer tons of of billions of {dollars}, if not more.

Gates now factors out that “excessive cold is far deadlier, killing nearly ten times more people every year than heat does.”

Are we now going to be taxed for the new “Ice Age” we’re bringing upon ourselves?

Robert Fishman

Somers

Bill Gates is urging us to desert the “doomsday outlook.”

Why?

It’s unhealthy for business.

Climate activists, misguided by Gates for years, have wasted hours at company conferences proposing resolutions to “save humankind” from a climate catastrophe Gates advised them was imminent.

Stupid company executives swallowed this rip-off and pledged tens of millions to fund and promote climate activism.

If company executives comply with Gates’ new advice, they’ll get back to business by instantly placing the climate activists and their ill-considered resolutions out to greener pastures.

The Issue: NBA playing scandals involving rigged poker video games and unlawful sports activities betting.

There is way an excessive amount of money and playing in sports activities at each degree (“Big scam dunk goes bust,” Oct. 24).

The integrity of skilled and collegiate sports activities all through the ranks is misplaced. But who cares? These clowns characterised as so-called “professional athletes” are overpaid and overrated anyway.

Earl Beal

Terre Haute, Ind.

The NBA’s response to playing scandals involving Chauncey Billups and Terry Rozier jogs my memory of Capt. Renault’s line in “Casablanca” when he shuts down Rick’s Cafe: “I’m shocked! Shocked to find that gambling is going on in here.”

When trying to place blame, the NBA and all different sports activities organizations ought to look within the mirror at their selections to maximise income over integrity.

The playing scandal that rocked the NBA has ruined the integrity of the sport.

Of course there was a thorough investigation by the league and FBI, however why wasn’t this stopped sooner?

Who is aware of how far down the rabbit gap goes, or how many more gamers, coaches and even groups may need participated in fixing video games?

I’ll stick to school video games.

At least in these video games, the younger gamers give it their very best with out making tens of millions.
