Hocevar continued, “They’re talking about how we need to chill out, ‘You guys need to learn how to race each other.’ And I was like, ‘I don’t care.’ I don’t even know what this is about. ‘Wreck me again. You’re 0 for 2, try it again. I don’t care.’

“My crew chief informed them they’re not a issue to us. We don’t care what they do, so it’s very one-sided … I simply thought it was humorous. I used to be laughing. I obtained to speak to the NASCAR officers after, and we have been all laughing.”

The ‘rivalry’ is not a rivalry in Hocevar’s eyes, in part because of the discrepancy between their Cup Series performances this year. Hocevar currently sits fifth in the Cup Series standings, having won one race. He also has five top-five finishes and nine top-10 finishes.

Conversely, Smith sits 24th. He has had two top-five finishes, six top-10 finishes, and three DNF’s. Hocevar has none of the latter.
