Ford executives are contemplating scrapping the electric model of the F-150 pickup truck, the Wall Street Journal reported Thursday, citing people conversant in the matter.
Ford declined to touch upon the matter, however stated that it was targeted on producing gasoline and hybrid powered variants of its F-150 because it recovers from the fire at Novelis.

Last month, a union official advised Reuters that Ford was pausing manufacturing on the Dearborn, Michigan, plant that makes its F-150 Lightning electric pickup as a result of a fire at a provider’s aluminum manufacturing unit.
“We have good inventories of the F-150 Lightning and will bring Rouge Electric Vehicle Center back up at the right time, but don’t have an exact date at this time,” Ford stated in a assertion on Thursday.
The WSJ report added that General Motors executives have mentioned discontinuing some electric vehicles, citing people conversant in the matter.
