Ford to move world headquarters for first time in – Business News

Ford is packing up and can quickly move to its new headquarters a short drive down the street. 

The automaker introduced it’s transferring from its present location – dubbed the “Glass House” – in Dearborn, Michigan, to a new website a few miles away that can formally open in November. Ford mentioned it can full the move from the Glass House – constructed in 1956 – in the first half of 2026, and that the building will likely be demolished over the course of about 18 months.

“This is more than just a new building; it’s a catalyst for innovation and a physical symbol of our Ford+ transformation,” Bill Ford and Jim Farley mentioned in a letter to workers. “To win in this new era, we must work more closely together than ever before.”

The new building will likely be known as the new Ford World Headquarters and, at 2.1 million sq. toes, is twice the scale of the Glass House. The new website is meant to convey workers from the company’s engineering, design and technology groups collectively in one location.

The building will likely be half of a bigger campus that can take the title of the present headquarters, the Henry Ford II World Center. Henry Ford II was the grandson of founder Henry Ford and served as CEO from 1945 till 1979. When accomplished, Ford mentioned 14,000 workers will likely be within a 15-minute stroll of the building.

Ford’s new location will characteristic six design studios, a showroom to conduct product evaluations, a 160,000-square-foot food corridor, wellness and mom’s rooms, in addition to more than 300 tech-enabled assembly rooms.

The new World Headquarters building is on the location of the previous Ford Product Development Center, which opened in 1953. Then-President Dwight Eisenhower was there to have fun the dedication stay by means of the first-ever use of closed-circuit TV.

Some of the nation’s most iconic vehicles have been born on the website and all through the Dearborn campus, together with the Mustang, Thunderbird, Continental, F-Series vehicles, Ranger and Ford GT.
