Honda recalls over 290,000 US vehicles due to | Tech News
Owners of Honda vehicles could see their car recalled, as the car manufacturer recalls over 290,000 US vehicles to fix an issue that may cause engines to stall or suffer a loss of power.
The recall only impacts certain motors, including 2022-2025 Acura MDX Type-S, 2023-2025 Honda Pilot, and 2021-2025 Acura TLX Type-S vehicles.
The defect is due to a problem with the fuel injection electronic control unit (FI-ECU) settings.
The statement from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said sudden changes in the throttle opening could cause the Check Engine Light to turn on and the engine to lose power, hesitate, or stall.
The recall from Honda follows others by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, who issued multiple recalls last week, including notices for over 270,000 Ford Broncos and Mavericks over a potential battery issue. Ford recalled 2021-2023 Bronco Sport and 2022-2023 Maverick vehicles as the 12-volt batteries manufactured by Chinese company Camel Battery could experience degradation while driving.
The report stated: “The (12-volt) battery may experience internal weld and/or cast-on-strap failures, which could lead to a sudden battery degradation while driving. If the battery suddenly degrades during a drive it can lead to a vehicle that is unable to restart after an auto stop/start event or experience a stall while coming to a stop at low speed.”
Owners are expected to be contacted mid-February, with the battery change offered free of charge by dealerships.
