Kennedy Center’s Melania rename and more: Letters – Latest News
Melania rename
Renaming the Kennedy Center’s opera home after First Lady Melania Trump can be a travesty (“Kennedy Center ‘honor,’ ” July 23).
President Trump by no means attended any of the annual Kennedy Center honors whereas he was president in 2017-2020. Over the years, he confirmed no curiosity and was uninterested in the Kennedy Center.
Unfortunately, a congressman tucked Melania’s title into an modification to a funding invoice. Hopefully, Melania will right the oversight.
Pete Sena, Naples Fla.
Anti-car bias
Our native progressive leaders’ pro-bicycle and anti-car insurance policies instantly result in the heightened parking space violence we now see (“No safe space in NY,” July 22).
Self-serving progressive politicians who’ve their fingers deep within the cookie-jar of the anti-auto industry have, of their “wisdom,” changed numerous official parking spots with the widely unused CitiBike stands that might have simply been positioned in safer public areas, comparable to parks and broad sidewalks.
Our metropolis planners are making drivers park basically and dangerously within the center of the highway, in order that under-used, if not ineffective, bike lanes may be positioned subsequent to the curb.
Are there any car fans on our City Council, or do all of them have taxpayer-funded chauffeurs? Because few have to be taking public transit until cameras are following.
Meanwhile, common New Yorkers are pressured to say squatters rights over our ever-shrinking and expensive parking areas.

Rising Israel hate
Thanks for declaring the vile social-media post by Gineth Nelson (“Anti-Jew hex for LI therapist,” July 20).
What I don’t perceive is why is there such hate in opposition to the Jews and Israel unfolding in every single place?
Why are these people like Nelson not displaying equal disdain in opposition to the Chinese oppression of the Uyghurs, the continual assault on Ukraine by Russia and the dangerous actors in Nigeria who kill, rape and brutalize innocents there?

Sick of sickos
There is completely no motive to consider that true evil has not taken over this world (“Kid-sex abuse horror house,” July 24).
We learn every day of more hideous, despicable acts of violence on harmless youngsters. What low-lives would abuse their own youngsters this manner?
A father murders his own daughter, a son decapitates his own mom, a husband kills his spouse, a mom leaves an toddler within the blazing heat to watch the Smurf film. That block of cement Bryan Kohberger sat impassive in entrance of households whose lives he has destroyed.
Each day, the paper is crammed with tales of victims of violence from shootings, stabbings, blunt drive trauma. First: Put criminals away so that can’t re-offend. Then open more mental hospitals and drug therapy services (that don’t offer more medicine). That would help heal this wretched society. Maybe following the Ten Commandments would additionally help.

RIP, Ozzy Osbourne
So unhappy to listen to Ozzy Osbourne has handed away (“Night for Prince of Darkness,” July 23). He solely gave his farewell Black Sabbath live performance simply weeks in the past.
What a drive of nature, a unbelievable entertainer and a true rock legend. Love and ideas to his spouse, Sharon, and all his household at this very unhappy time. Ozzy Osbourne, RIP.
Paul Bacon, Hallandale Beach, Fla.
