The Issue: The passing of Pope Francis on Monday at age 88 after a battle with pneumonia.

As a Muslim, I used to be deeply saddened to study of the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis (“Holy Father ‘returns to the Lord,’ ” April 22).

Growing up, I attended a Catholic main college.

Those early life gave me an invaluable insight into the values common throughout all faiths — these of compassion, charity, humility and repair to others.

Pope Francis embodied these rules.

Throughout his papacy, he constantly demonstrated immense sympathy for these struggling beneath the heavy weight of warfare, persecution and injustice.

He used his platform to advocate for the poor and marginalized and to construct bridges throughout spiritual divides.

May the Catholic Church quickly discover a new chief who will proceed to uphold Pope Francis’ outstanding legacy.

It is with great disappointment that I discovered of the passing of Pope Francis.

Pope Francis might be remembered as one of the most consequential leaders of our time.

As the pope, he was a loving pastor and difficult instructor who reached out to completely different faiths.

He advocated for the unvoiced and powerless.

He made all really feel welcome and seen by the Church.

He was the “People’s Pope” — a gentle of religion, hope and love.

Despite docs’ repeated entreaties not to be partaking with massive crowds, His Holiness visited a jail final Thursday, then was pushed into the throngs of hundreds of spiritual pilgrims all through St. Peter’s Square Sunday afternoon.

Not solely the chief of 1.4 billion Catholics, His Holiness was humanity’s non secular liaison to God and Jesus Christ in life and stays so in death.

This mild but frail man, superior in years and a sufferer of power sickness, possessed each the spirit and can to dwell by means of one final Easter’s celebration.

And now, having left earthly bounds of mankind, he’s going home to be with and sit alongside each God and Jesus Christ in heaven.

God Bless Francis in heaven.

He cared about many points, even clerical-abuse victims.

The Vatican has huge footwear to fill.

A doable successor can be New York’s own Archbishop Dolan.

Matt Engel

Wilkes-Barre, Pa.

The world has misplaced a true champion of religion in Francis.

As the cardinals from round the world journey to Rome to start the course of of electing a new pontiff, could God bless them with knowledge and sincerity as they make their very important determination.

Speaking on behalf of everybody who’s misplaced religion in spiritual charlatans and corrupt leaders, I’m going to miss the efforts of Pope Francis to carry consolation and pleasure to a world that’s change into cold, callous and stuffed with contempt for mankind.

He is proof that a real holy man can actually make a distinction.

The Vatican may use an American pope, a man like Timothy Cardinal Dolan.

It’s vital that he’s the Archbishop of New York — the unofficial communications capital of the world — the place affect and attain extends far past our national shores.

President Trump described Pope Francis as a good man who “worked hard and loved the world.”

This may be very a lot a minimalist view of a one who devoted his life to making the world a higher place, as opposed to Trump’s effort to simply make his own world a higher place.

Francis was beloved by billions of people.

Those who didn’t agree with him, and even overtly opposed his modifications, had been nonetheless welcome in his home.

We all need great people to set examples for us to comply with and, sadly, we have now simply misplaced one of the greats.
