The Issue: The twenty fourth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist assaults on the United States.

Grace, kindness and understanding was what adopted seeing our first responders and different residents rush to save whoever they may underneath the horror of extraordinary terrorism on 9/11 (“9/11, 24 Years On,” Editorial, Sept. 11).

Now, I don’t see grace. I see political figures justifying horrific acts of violence, people politicizing shootings and a few making thought crimes a good cause for assassination.

On 9/11, I implore my neighbors to do not forget that we’re Americans who can come collectively and be first rate to one another. Maybe, simply possibly, we don’t even need a catastrophic occasion that kills hundreds to do not forget that.

Rachel Cohen

Lafayette, Colo.

9/11 has change into a day “to never forget” — however. sadly, many younger people born after the horrific tragedy do not likely know what happened. They ought to be taught that 9/11 was no accident, it was a well-planned-out terror assault on the United States.

The day has change into a commemoration for these whose lives have been misplaced — each harmless victims and first responders.

Phyllis Hochberg

Queens

I’m vastly troubled by the those that imagine we should transfer on — that there’s nonetheless an excessive amount of speak of 9/11 after 24 years. We misplaced hundreds of good people that day, and lots of are nonetheless dying from the results.

The assault resulted in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the place many of our women and men died combating terrorism. How can we overlook?

Future generations need to know what occurred on that evil day. When we disregard historical past, we’re doomed to repeat it.

Frederick Bedell Jr.

Bellerose

9/11 is a crimson flag that warns us to be cautious and to always remember what those that search to destroy our nation are all about.

It serves as a reminder that hatred encourages its followers to raise their fists and proceed on their mission of death and destruction. We should all pay attention and take heed.

S.P. Hersh

Lawrence

Despite monumental tragedy on 9/11, New York City moved into the future and adjusted the which means of resilience endlessly. Additionally, the small city of Gander in Newfoundland, Canada, gave new which means to the phrase “kindness” by welcoming all vacationers who have been stranded immediately after the assaults.

You can not put a worth on what Gander’s residents did. The whole city got here collectively to take care of company.

Anant Nagpur

Ottawa, Canada

9/11 took hundreds of lives and even more since, due to poisonous publicity in the space that day.

It looks as if yesterday, and regardless of the space being constructed back up in Manhattan, New York won’t ever be the identical.

Joseph Comperchio

Brooklyn

The Issue: The FireAid live performance donating income to “woke causes” as an alternative of displaced fire victims.

It is disheartening to learn that an occasion referred to as “FireAid,” offered as a fundraiser with celebs to help victims of the wildfires, has as an alternative given the money raised to everybody however the victims (“L.A. victims ask: Where’s ‘fireaid’ $$?” Sept. 10).

Shame on the performers for not following the money path and disgrace on the organizers if this was some gimmick to raise money for different causes.

California fails miserably but again.

Amy Hendel

Tarzana, Calif.

The story about the Los Angeles fire victims ready for FireAid money made me chortle. It been nearly 13 years since Hurricane Sandy, and I’m nonetheless ready.

Remember the 12/12/12 live performance to raise money for victims? Only the organizers do — each time they examine their bank accounts.
