Sam Altman’s OpenAI is reportedly building its own social media platform – a transfer that would escalate tensions along with his bitter rival, X proprietor Elon Musk.

While the OpenAI project is in its early phases, the company has constructed an “X-like” prototype that will pair ChatGPT’s image era software with a social media feed, The Verge reported, citing sources acquainted with the matter.

For now, it’s not clear if OpenAI would release the experimental social media platform as a standalone app or just combine it with ChatGPT, the report mentioned. In February, OpenAI disclosed that ChatGPT had reached 400 million weekly lively customers.

An Altman-led push into social media would absolutely irritate Musk, who’s at the moment locked in a bitter legal battle in a bid to stop OpenAI’s plans to rework from a non-profit to a for-profit entity.

Representatives for OpenAI and X didn’t instantly return The Post’s request for remark.

Musk has accused Altman and OpenAI of abandoning its unique objective of building secure AI for humanity’s betterment whereas reworking from a “tax-exempt charity to a $157 billion for-profit, market-paralyzing gorgon.”
