Shame on the BBC

I used to be born and raised within the United Kingdom when everybody had full religion and trust within the BBC as an neutral broadcaster. Sadly, I’ve witnessed its decline into a mouthpiece for the left (“Edited out at BBC,” Nov. 10).

The outdated guard was changed by a youthful technology that has no qualms in pushing its own views on the public. The time has come to stop its public funding in the identical approach President Trump is withdrawing funds from PBS and NPR.

In-flight disservice

I’m rooting for Matias Ferreira to win his lawsuit towards Delta and the ignorant employees member who ousted him from the exit row seat (“Airing grievance,” Nov. 11).

What a disservice to all our courageous veterans. Any of us would select to call on Ferreira ought to there be an emergency. Going ahead, I cannot select to fly Delta. Their employees are no more geared up to help, besides to show us how to make use of an oxygen masks, than they’re to avoid wasting anybody. Thank you, Mr. Ferreira in your service and bravery.

The actual ‘fascists’

UC Berkeley protesters paradoxically tried to close down free speech whereas shouting “fascist” at others (“Antifa swarms TPUSA,” Nov. 12).

Rather than foster a dialogue inside, they resorted to violence outdoors to stop people from taking part in discourse. That act is the definition of fascism.

The violent protesters need to do more than take a easy look within the mirror and go brush up on actual historical past. Then they will go decide up a mic and debate. Once upon a time, Berkeley was recognized for that.

Drug-use risks

Naomi Schaefer Riley hit the nail on the top together with her article in regards to the hazard of destigmatizing drug use (“Up in smoke,” Postscript, Nov. 9)

I’m a restoration advocate and own a small sober-living home for women in Bergen County. Last week was my 24-year sober anniversary, and Riley’s article was a present. This destigmatizing trend, together with different well-meaning however finally dangerous societal shifts, appear to be about money, not human lives.

Gavin’s failures

Joel Pollak’s column on Gavin Newsom rightly holds the state’s Democratic leaders to account for his or her failures to help in rebuilding fire-ravaged areas or implement confirmed, common-sense insurance policies to help stop future wildfires (“Gavin’s Victory Lap Leaves Cali Behind,” PostOpinion, Nov. 11).

But Newsom and his celebration’s failures go far past abandoning victims of the latest fires.

In truth, it’s some of the constituencies that Democrats like to assert as their own that are bearing the heaviest burden from Newsom’s insurance policies.

Issues like training, homelessness and poverty are the very issues Democrats declare the ethical high ground on. Yet, on Newsom’s watch, each one has worsened, and the state he runs has some of the worst ends in the nation.

Sub slinger let go

There are definitely good causes to oppose Donald Trump’s xenophobic anti-immigration insurance policies. But throwing one thing at an harmless federal agent is simply as unhealthy as assaulting a physician who performs abortions in case you don’t agree with abortion-on-demand (“Cold cut him a break,” Nov. 7).
