“Wuffo?”

This week, one of the deadliest avalanches in current American historical past took the lives of no less than eight backcountry skiers close to Lake Tahoe. 

A bunch of 15 set out on an annual journey collectively over Presidents Day Weekend. Six survived, eight died, and one continues to be lacking and presumed useless.

Can the tragic outcomes for these left behind ever be value no matter it’s these skiers have been chasing? 

Extreme athletes and people who love them ask this basic query in another way. Instead of asking whether or not death is an acceptable final result, one has to start out from the understanding that death is the inevitable final result, for all of us. 

Then, the query turns into: “What am I willing to risk for a life worth living?” And: “Will I dare to experience my most precious dreams with the time I have?”

The solutions to those questions are totally different for everybody. Some get simply the correct amount of rush snowboarding groomers and sticking to the paths. 

For some, golf supplies the extent of outside engagement that defines “recreational fun.” 

For others, the sensation of really being alive and in neighborhood requires being nearer to the sting.
