What’s it like working for Michael Jordan? 23XI | Sports News

Michael Jordan is one of the best athletes of all time. But now he has a new goal – NASCAR staff proprietor.

Jordan spent the final 12 months embroiled in a bitter legal battle with NASCAR, led to a settlement. It’s now all deal with the new season, which begins with the Daytona 500 this weekend.

Bubba Wallace instructed the Express U.S. Sports that Jordan is “fired up” for the new season. Meanwhile, one of NASCAR’s biggest of all-time has introduced their last race. 

And we requested all 4 of his 23XI Racing drivers – Wallace, Tyler Reddick, Riley Herbst and Corey Heim – what their communication with Jordan has been like to get a sense of the position of the NBA legend.

Here’s every thing they mentioned… 

“I actually saw him yesterday (Tuesday) on the golf course. We had a good leadership meeting a couple of weeks ago.

“He’s fired up. It’s a new season, so it’s a clean slate. Ready to go and get it.”

 “We’ve both been fans of the sport, he’s been a fan a lot longer than I have, but we understand what it takes to be successful.

“To win at this level is super hard. But when you have the right people surrounding you, then the sky’s the limit. So just put it all together.” 

“Yeah, I’ve gotten to spend a little bit of time with him. We had our Christmas party, which was nice. He actually stayed later then I did. It was time to get home and get back to the kids. So, we were able to enjoy some moments there together. 

“Then he’s always made an effort to be a part of the meetings and communications that the team has in preparation for the year or going into a race or just physically his presence being at a number of races. So, it’s good. 

“He’s made it – MJ (Michael Jordan), Denny (Hamlin), Curtis (Polk) – all the ownership has made it very clear of what the expectations are for a team like this and how we expect to perform, so yeah just help guide us where we need to have our expectations are at for the year.”

What would it imply for him and MJ to get him to Victory Lane in Daytona? 

“It’d be huge. He loves winning races, and it’s really cool to win at Talladega, and get to have him experience his first victory lane a couple years ago. He loves winning. 

“Big races are important to him as well as an owner as well as performing consistently well and contending for championships. One way you can start it off is by having a strong SpeedWeeks.

“It’s cool the last 2 years, whether it was myself or Bubba (Wallace), we’ve been able to win Duels and get the weekend started off right, and hopefully, we’ve both been close, me and Bubba both, but hopefully one of us can get the job done in the 500 and give MJ (Michael Jordan) the experience he’s worked really hard to have.”

“Yeah, he’s (Michael Jordan, team co-owner) a lot more involved than most people think. After pretty much every Truck win last year, he reached out to me with congratulations and every time I ran good, bad or indifferent in a Cup car, he’d reach out and share some words. 

“I always thought that was motivating to have an owner, but also an owner that’s very involved and motivated. Think everyone knows he’s probably a busy guy but seems like he always makes time to pay attention and stay in the loop with the 23XI side of things. 

“Him and Denny (Hamlin, team co-owner) have been just awesome so far. Didn’t know what I was expecting getting into it, but definitely a lot of support.”

“The contact is always been consistent with ownership, Denny (Hamlin) and Michael (Jordan) are always at Airspeed encouraging us and giving us the tools we need to succeed at the highest level. 

“Hopefully we can succeed, and that’s what all three of us want to do during the year and the fourth racing with us this weekend as well. Just give Denny and MJ a real big trophy and a lot of money to go along with it.”
