By blocking a Senate vote that might let the SAVE Act turn out to be law, Democrats are setting themselves up for large bother — since their arguments towards voter-ID are so transparently absurd.

Per Pew, 83% of all American adults help requiring some kind of ID to vote in US elections — and that features 71% of Democrats.

Which explains the huge alliance of left-wing teams mobilized to struggle the voter-ID measure that should seem on the poll this fall in California, a state Democrats now utterly dominate.

The ACLU, Common Cause and so forth would like to derail the measure earlier than it faces a vote, regardless that (or maybe as a result of) it garnered more than 1.3 million signatures.

“This voter ID measure is not about protecting voters; it is about importing the current federal administration’s election lies and intimidation tactics into California,” blared League of Women Voters functionary Jenny Farrell.

Yes, that’s the “nonpartisan” League of Women Voters displaying its true colours.

Of course, asking people to show they’re who they are saying they’re and that they’ve the proper to vote in America isn’t intimidation or “lies” (huh?): it’s fundamental civics.

Common Cause’s Brittany Stonesifter equally whines, “As our elections are under threat at the federal level, California must protect access to the ballot box, not block it off.”

The federal “threat” is of course the SAVE Act, which Democratic Senate chief Chuck Schumer is definitely calling “Jim Crow 2.0” — the exact same charge he (and Joe Biden, amongst many others) levied towards Georgia’s 2021 election-security reforms.

And by no means thoughts that the Georgia law truly yielded elevated turnout and contented black voters.

Yet serial liar Sen. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) insists SAVE “is another way to simply suppress the vote.”

By all means, Democrats, keep making this case, telling America you assume blacks are too disorganized to get drivers licenses and Hispanics voters can’t proudly show their US citizenship.

(And no, we don’t buy the idea that Dems are conspiring to flood the polls with unlawful immigrants or different fraudulent voters, however their nuttiness on this subject makes you surprise.)

The case for voter-ID, by the way, is all about one thing Democrats keep insisting is their subject: bolstering our democracy.

Securing the polls builds religion in elections — and so encourages turnout.

Looser guidelines undermine confidence, feeding despair about whether or not your vote could make a distinction.

And, as The California Post not too long ago famous, “In all the lawsuits against voter ID, not one activist group has found an individual plaintiff who can claim he was denied the right to vote because he needed ID.”

Regular Americans get it; it’s solely the Democratic activist class that sees voter-ID as some racist menace.

So we hope the difficulty’s debated at size in every close race for Congress the entire relaxation of this yr.
