America’s Gulf allies need to step up to the plate – Latest News
There’s a beautiful silence from supposed allies of the United States in President Trump’s marketing campaign to take down Iran’s despotic rulers.
No, not NATO. We’re speaking about Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, amongst different Gulf States.
No nations benefit more from the de-fanging of Iran, and certainly studies recommend the House of Saud specifically is cheering the bombardment from behind the scenes.
So why aren’t they offering to escort oil tankers by means of the Strait of Hormuz?
Saudi overseas minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan this week mentioned that the nation would take army actions “if deemed necessary.” Is no longer obligatory?
In 2017, Saudi Arabia agreed with Trump in his first time period to buy $350 billion in American arms over 10 years. Now would appear to be a good time to use them.
For too long, the Gulf States have benefitted from US support but failed to offer help. They wouldn’t take refugees from Gaza or Syria. Qatar even hosts the leaders of Hamas, but says it’s an ally.
And now, despite the fact that an Iran that doesn’t fund overseas terrorists, isn’t fueling a civil conflict in Yemen and isn’t attempting to construct a nuclear bomb is an absolute win, they received’t act.
Enough. Stop being mad at NATO and begin getting upset with Iran’s neighbors. They need to put their own militaries to work to take down Iran’s dictators and have a free Persian Gulf. They need to have our backs.
