Kevin Magnussen decides on returning to NASCAR | Sports News

NASCAR seemingly hasn’t seen the final of Kevin Magnussen after the 33-year-old expressed his need to as soon as again compete within the premier stock-car racing collection.

Last weekend, Magnussen wasted no time making his presence felt in Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at San Diego’s Naval Base Coronado whereas debuting for Trackhouse Racing’s Project 91 program. On Lap 38 of the Anduril 250, he collided with the precise rear of Noah Gragson, sending the No. 4 Ford barreling into the wall exiting Turn 4.

Gragson did little to cover his frustration upon struggling an early exit as a result of of Magnussen, promptly confronting the previous F1 star on pit lane and accusing him of purposefully wrecking him. Earlier within the afternoon, the pair raced aggressively in opposition to each other whereas battling for place within the back of the pack.

Though tensions almost boiled over between him and Gragson, Magnussen asserted that he loved his first-ever Cup Series race. Taking to Instagram, the Danish driver shared a collection of snaps from the Anduril 250 alongside the caption: “So long, San Diego. I hope this wasn’t my last NASCAR race.

“Thank you to @teamtrackhouse and @qualcomm for the opportunity. I had a lot of fun and hope to be back again someday.”

Taking to the remark part, droves of followers insisted that they might love to see Magnussen return to NASCAR within the close to future. “K Mag would be one of the most popular drivers if he raced in the series full time,” one X person wrote, with one other including: “If they have any sense they will definitely have you back in the future [smiling emoji] Every series needs a K-Mag!”

A 3rd chimed in, “Followed you at HAAS and now at BMW. Would love to see you full time in NASCAR or Indy. F1 was definitely more about the car and these other series a driver makes much more of a difference!”

It seems as if not everybody loved Magnussen’s visitor look within the Cup Series, nonetheless. Following the checkered flag on Sunday, Gragson engaged in a shouting match with him over their on-track incident.

“What’s your f—— problem,” Gragson asked. “You guys come over right here, you f—— drive off into the nook, simply since you obtained fenders on it.” Magnussen was in no mood to talk, clapping back: “Get the f— out of my face.”

Speaking to reporters on the heels of the fiery conflict, Gragson mentioned: “I don’t want to put all of them in this group, but a lot of these open-wheel racers that come race with us. We’re running literally 30th. We weren’t where we wanted to be on the 14 this weekend. “Kind of struggled in qualifying, struggling in the race, felt like we were making progress” mentioned Gragson.

“And these open wheel guys, they get fenders on their cars, they get bumpers, and we’re running 30th. And they’re driving up the inside, barreling it up at the inside. We could all outbrake each other, but they’re pinballing it, they’re blasting our inside doors. They get fenders on their cars, they get bumpers. I don’t know why that is, but the 91 just kept barreling off in there. And so, then hit me again later in the race, ending our day.”
