Talk about flushing money away whereas bigger wants go unmet.
Visitors to Runyon Canyon Park within the Hollywood Hills could have entry to a spiffy $1 million shed-sized restroom.
But they face threats of violence on the park’s iconic trails.
That’s not acceptable.

The LA City Council should rent enough patrols to keep park patrons protected as they get pleasure from one of the town’s most well-known facilities.
In the previous 12 months or two, the park has seen hovering charges of crime, together with assaults and arson, with some locals calling it a violent hellhole.
Meanwhile, the council, together with radical Councilwoman Nithya Raman –– who’s operating for mayor and whose district consists of the park –– on Tuesday authorized a $25,000 part-time security plan.
But as one resident informed The California Post: “A million dollars for a bathroom, and this is what we get for safety? It’s a joke.”

Indeed. Ensuring public security –– together with in public parks –– is the town’s most basic obligation and accountability.
A token nod at security is not going to secure a 160-acre park that’s more and more marred by poor repairs, unruly crowds, and vagrancy.
Runyon has long been a haven for Angelenos: a place to elude the city bustle, train, recreate, socialize, scale rugged terrain within the japanese Santa Monica Mountains, and absorb gorgeous panoramic views of the town.
Celebrities work on the market; components of motion pictures, together with “Rebel Without a Cause” and “The Naked Gun,” had been filmed there; and Jerry, George and Kramer hiked there on “Seinfeld.”
City Hall should reverse the decline of this iconic landmark before it gets worse. For now, the park nonetheless attracts about 2 million guests per 12 months.
A $1 million shed restroom just isn’t a severe repair.
Real security can be.
